Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a birthday session for a long time friend of mine, Josie and her son T.J. Josie and I have known each other since high-school, so like, 10 years at this point? It is kinda crazy actually! Since high-school, Josie and I both have both started families, we both play roller derby + love the outdoors. It was a lot of fun catching up with her and seeing how much her little guy has grown.
This birthday session was really fun, very carefree. Because T.J. has recently turned four, we focused on keeping the session as natural and candid as possible. You know how hard it is for those little people to sit still anyway?
We thought it would be really fun to do something involving color with this session so we got some exploding confetti cannons! And boy, was that fun! The little guy really liked them too as you can tell from the pictures.
This session was taken in Southern Maryland at a local park during the middle of the day, so we had to play with the light a bit but overall, the images turned out wonderfully. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
